Broadstrike Coin Error
This error happens when the cent planchet is not surrounded by the coin collar and the hammer die strikes down and since the force of the strick isso high, it spreds the planchet outward in all directions. The result is that you end up with a one cent coin that is larger in diameter than your typical cent. The width of these broadstrikes varies from slightly larger than a normal cent up close to quarter planchet size. Most end up being right around nickel planchet size in width.
